Ruth Bell’s prayer
As my dear sisters in Christ, we have been prayed for our marriage for a couple months. What do we desire from God? What does the man look like who we want to marry to? Is a good character of man still charming to us?
A prayer I read today from Young Ladies Christian Fellowship share as below:
Dear God, I prayed, all unafraid, 亲爱的上帝，我祈求，坦然无惧
(as we’re inclined to do) （正如我们得以坦然无惧地来到你面前）
I do not need a handsome man 我不求一个英俊的男子
But let him be like You; 但求他能像你
I do not need one big and tall 我不求一位高大的男子
Nor need he be some genius 也不求他的才华
Or wealthy, Lord, at all; 或是富有，主，一点也不
But let his head be high, dear God, 但求让他是高尚的，亲爱的上帝
And let his eye be clear, 求让他的眼睛是明亮的
His shoulders straight, 为人正直
Whate’er his state 不管他在何境遇
Whate’er his earthly sphere; 不管他属世的领域
And let his face have character, 但求他个性鲜明的面容
A ruggedness of soul, 有坚韧的属灵特质
And let his whole life show, 让他的一生都来展示
Dear God, 亲爱的上帝
A singleness of goal; 一个单一的目标
That when he comes 当他出现时，
(as he will come) （因为他会出现）
With quiet eyes aglow 安静的眼神会发亮
I’ll understand that he’s the man 我就明白那就是他

此祷告诗的作者钟路得（Ruth Bell Graham，1920年 6月10日 – 2007年6月14日）1920年6月10，钟路得出生在中国江苏省的清江浦（今淮安市）她的父母是美南长老会派到中国的医疗传教士。1937年秋天，路得回美国，接受高等教育，就读于伊利诺斯州的惠顿学院。在那里她遇到了葛培里（Billy Graham 1918年11月7日- ），就是举世闻名的浸信会领袖，他们于1943年8月13日结婚。
